2008… Dedicated to the kupuna of Molokai who have kept the ancient wisdom and stories alive. After years of degradation, the small Hawaiian island of Molokai is working to reestablish ecological and social balance, sustainability and self-governance. Not simply “fighting” development, but looking to create economic engines that compliment and enhance the island’s unique lifestyle, culture and natural resources. The effort will be successful only if they look to the lessons of the past and revive the values that once made ancient Molokai great. “Ho`ii ka Pono” = to return to pono… a state of being physically and spiritually in accord with the sacred; correct living; righteousness; balance; abundance; wealth. www.quazifilms.com. Franciscan Friars of Chicago
FABULOUS documentary. . and cinematography to enrich our culture. . . . . .
Greed and apathy seems to ruin all. I lived in KKI Molokai and loved it back when!
The attack on Pearl Harbor may have been provoked and directed at the US military on the islands. But even if the US had no connection with Hawaii Japan would have wanted a base there during the war. And given the way things went down I would assume they would use force if needed. I love Hawaii and everything it stands for, I am sorry they way of the world is effecting the islands but it is happening everywhere. I hope Molokai can stay “country” and keep their way of life as is.
more power to you all, and may the new years to come bring much better results. molokai will live on forever in all of our hearts. much can be learn here about what we have lost and what should be important to us. peace and mahalo.

great video! I hope Molokai, will stay the way it is, with no increase in population and no tall buildings!!!
EXACTLY!!! Most Hawaiians aren’t trying to dominate other races with sovereignty, many just want a more “Hawaiian” say over NATURAL RESOURCES.
