Molokai – Return to Pono

May 30th, 2010

2008… Dedicated to the kupuna of who have kept the ancient wisdom and stories alive. After years of degradation, the small Hawaiian island of is working to reestablish ecological and social balance, sustainability and self-governance. Not simply “fighting” development, but looking to create economic engines that compliment and enhance the island’s unique lifestyle, culture and natural resources. The effort will be successful only if they look to the lessons of the past and revive the values that once made ancient great. “Ho`ii ka ” = to to pono… a state of being physically and spiritually in accord with the sacred; correct living; righteousness; balance; abundance; wealth. www.quazifilms.com. Greed and apathy seems to ruin all. I lived in KKI Molokai and loved it back when!

  13. dnewton76 says:

The attack on Pearl Harbor may have been provoked and directed at the US military on the islands. But even if the US had no connection with Hawaii Japan would have wanted a base there during the war. And given the way things went down I would assume they would use force if needed. I love Hawaii and everything it stands for, I am sorry they way of the world is effecting the islands but it is happening everywhere. I hope Molokai can stay “country” and keep their way of life as is.

  14. bernardola says:
