Although I never kept up with Lacroix as much as I do with Chanel or Dior, I do love his last couture collection. Very somber and quiet but it was an extremely beautiful way to end. . .

its a shame that someone so talented and humble has to close. . . :-( long live lacroix and his body of works!! anyone tell me who sang the french version of ‘my way’ on lacroix’s final couture show please? thanx

It’s so nice that there are so many wonderful comments about someone who is without a doubt a genius on so many levels. Lacroix’s colors, textures, sheens. . . Sigh. I remember PBS a special on couture too many years ago in which a young designer with Patou was blowing everyone away with his creativity. It is because of him that I believe in perfection and not compromising your views on your craft, your love, your life. He’s the reason I consider France such a superior country.

Edina Monsoon would not be pleased to hear this news. . .

  14. whoaphatass says:

    whats the song he used?

  15. lahayea1000 says:

alas, there’s hope! four groups have laid out bail out offers for his house, and the buyer will be chosen in september . . . crossing my fingers for him!

  16. ecoweho11 says:

the final gown looked like a funeral dress with a death mask, too ornate for modern times

Sad, when you think of Paris Fashion you always have Lacroix on mind, amazing couturier, since I was a child I heard about him, then I discovered his work on fashion magazines and runway, I read at Vogue’s website, the few models that worked in this final runway were paid 50 euros only, I would have killed to be one of them, such an honor for any model, long live to Monsieur Lacroix.

  18. wysteriaqueenfaerie says:

sad isn’t it. . . . one of the best designer around. my heart breaks for him even more.

  19. italia101085 says:

    ugh NOOOOOO

  20. lahayea1000 says:

14 million euros of debt due to the group who owns his label not being able to manage a business model which fits his brand.

  21. andrewjamesmacleod says:

. . . and it is this collection’s ability to provoke emotion which elevates this to the truest realm of haute couture. This collection is in line with true couture, and aligns itself with the masters, from Rose Bertin to Poiroit, to Dior and Balenciaga. Lacroix’s designs are so beautiful because of what a beautiful person he, himself, is. Please, oh please, do not leave us. The world can be so ugly – such beauty is a heavenly reprieve.

  22. andrewjamesmacleod says:

There is a heart-wrenching duality in this collection; it runs the gamut of human emotion: love, celebration, creation, life, and death. The collection fights to be exuberant, yet it seems to be a requiem of sorts, knowing and accepting of its ultimate fate. Art and design are separate; art transcends design through the presence and provocation of emotion. This collection manages to soothe yet break my heart and every time I see it lifts a tear to my eye. . . .
