By looking at the French seams and other intricacies, he learned about couture construction through the true masters of design. This hobby quickly became a collection of more than 25000 fashion items, primarily 20th century European designs, with a number of them extending back to the 1920s and 30s. “In 1968, Jackie married Greek shipping magnate, Aristotle Onassis. Onassis died in 1975, and from 1978 until her death in 1994, Jackie worked as an editor for Doubleday in New York City.” “At first, I didn’t quite understand why so many people were interested in seeing these clothes,” says Francisco. “For me, the clothes were simply great examples of what I was able to study while at the Fashion Institute. 1947, France is in the midst of reconstruction after the war. Although fabric is being rationed, a young designer wins the world over to his daring visions of feminine elegance. He once again establishes Paris as the capitol of fashion. His name, Christian Dior, is destined to reach the realm of myth. This man, however, who so completely changed and glamorized haute couture from 1947 to 1957, contradicts the extroverted, flamboyant image the public has of fashion designers. Christian Dior, never comfortable with his celebrity, was a reserved, conservative man who hadn’t even considered working in the fashion industry.
